There have even been some misleading statements regarding full spectrum hemp oil, phytocannabinoid oil and CBD oil – which are all one in the same. However, not all cannabis skincare contains CBD. You may want to ask some questions to make sure you’re getting the real thing.

What plant is the CBD oil coming from?
CBD oil can come from the hemp plant or marijuana plant. For CBD oil to be legal, it must contain less than .03% THC, which usually means that it has to be extracted from the hemp plant. However, there are companies extracting CBD oil from marijuana and separating the THC through the extraction process. This method makes the CBD concentration less powerful then when extracting from the hemp plant.

What part of the hemp plant is being used for extraction?
Hemp oil can be extracted from the seed, resin, stalk or the whole plant. At Cannabliss Organic, we use organically grown Colorado hemp and a food grade organic ethanol extraction process. This method does not damage the cannabinoids like a CO2 extraction can. We also use the whole plant, getting the full cannabinoid profile, with the oil containing 87% CBD. That’s a high concentration!

Here’s where hemp oil may get confusing: hemp oil extracted from the seed does not contain CBD, but it is very high in protein and still has a lot of nutrients. Be wary of products using hemp oil extracted from the seed that claim to contain CBD.
